Looking for a Bargain?

If something is worth having, it does not take a lot of chat to sell it. Of course, we all want a bargain. That's why we come to places like the local market. So often the bargains are the ones which YOU seek out from stalls that are there week after week. Anyone with a grain of common sense avoids those quick-sell merchants - there one week, gone the next - who treat us to an amusing line of patter before "robbing" themselves to offer us some "sought-after" object at a fraction of its normal price. You might well find a stall elsewhere selling the same item for even less.

The Offer of All Offers

The most attractive offers are free gifts. They are the best sort of bargain. However, when something is offered free, we immediately look for the catch. Experience has taught us that nothing is ever free. "What are we going to be asked to do in return?" we wonder.

Now it just so happens that God offers us a free gift. "Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord; though your sins be as scarlet they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool." (Isaiah 1 v 18) Sin has brought guilt, worry, anxiety, fear and misery into the lives of countless millions. Sin is a barrier between us and God, between us and the abundant life that God wants us to have. Does God condemn us? On the contrary, He offers to deal with our sin, to remove its stain and its consequences, so that we can have life in all its fulness. "The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6v23) God today offers you cleansing from and forgiveness for all the sins of the past. You can start living a new life that is clean and wholesome, a life filled with peace and joy. If fame and fortune were yours, they could not bring you this wonderful life. It is the gift of God.

Free Does Not Mean Cheap

Of course, we are suspicious of free gifts because we know that everything costs something. However, gifts from family and friends are acceptable because they are an expression of love and affection. Such gifts are free but not necessarily cheap. Someone has been prepared to pay a price on our behalf. The same is true of God's gift of forgiveness and life that He offers you. It was not cheap. In fact, because of His great love for each one of us, He paid the highest price imaginable. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3 v 16) Yes, Jesus suffered the awful agony of death on the cross, the utter horror of bearing the penalty for our sins, so that He might redeem us and bring us back to God. The Bible says that He endured the cross and despised the shame for the joy that was set before Him... the joy of seeing many set free from sin and enjoying God's gift of life.

There's No Catch

There is no catch. God's gift is absolutely free. All you have to do is believe it and receive it. There is no brainwashing, no "sales technique", no pestering, no pressure. In fact, it is our policy, when receiving enquiries, NEVER to visit anyone's home or to telephone unless we are specifically requested by that person to do so. You can ask for further details to be sent through the post or by e-mail, without the fear of someone turning up on your doorstep. All we ask is that you give God's offer reasonable consideration. It's the best bargain ever.
